at Passion (a Christian conference for 18-25 year olds down in Atlanta), the cause we rallied behind this year was modern day slavery. they had a “freedom station” where we walked through, read the facts, were confronted by the truth, and were asked to give. each white flag (last pic) represented 1,000 slaves who were enslaved around the world. all over the georgia dome and world conference center, 27,000 flags were hung. that’s 27 million slaves, more than any other time in history.
we set out to raise a million dollars. in four days. 45,000 “broke” college students were asked to be a part of something bigger than themselves and give to the fight against human trafficking.
so we raised $3,066,670.
i’m proud to be a part of a generation who’s doing something NOW to end modern day slavery.
